About Me

I'm Lucy, and I make ceramics in small batches in my garden studio in Oxford, England. My work is mostly made on the wheel and decorated by hand using various techniques. Usually firing to stoneware temperatures, I use a few different coloured clays and coloured slips for decorative effect.

I aim to make functional items to use with joy every day. Mugs to love from first tea to last cocoa. Bowls to fill with deliciousness from porridge to pasta, plates for toast and pots for jam.

My love for pottery began at school in a very ceramics-centered art department. Years of dabbling in various crafts followed - knitting, sewing, wire and textile sculptures, alongside my career in professional music. In 2017 I stumbled upon an opportunity to be an intern in a pottery in Oxford, and as I started to work again with clay, it was as if I had not only come back to my hometown, but that I had also come back to my first love. I found a place in a community studio which allowed me space to practise and grow, finally taking the plunge to build my own studio in 2021.
